SESSION DETAILS

Can You Tell if Someone is Lying to You? – Chih-Chen Lee

Management accountants need to be able to detect mistruths and outright deception in order to help protect their companies. Do you know why people lie? How often people lie? What are the cues to detect deceptions? How reliable are these deception cues? How well can people detect lies? To find the answers to these questions, join us for this very thought-provoking presentation.

Using the Monte Carlo Method in Excel to do Predictive and Prescriptive Analytics – Harlan Fuller

This presentation will demonstrate the use of Excel to do predictive and prescriptive analytics in uncertainty.  You will see how to run thousands of simulations in Excel for each of the following situations:

  • Having a number of uncertain possible outcomes with known results and 50/50 chances of occurring.
  • Having a number of uncertain possible outcomes with known results and non 50/50 chances of occurring.
  • Having a number of known possible outcomes with unknown results.

There will also be a few helpful keyboard shortcuts thrown into the demonstration.
